About OnScientia — International Journal of Business, Law & Health
OnScientia is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal devoted to empirical scholarship in business, law, and health. The journal also publishes research that connects these disciplines and addresses questions that cannot be adequately examined within a single field. Published by OnScientia Press LLC in Florida, USA, the journal provides a platform for research grounded in evidence, transparent methodology, and substantive contribution.
Where Three Disciplines Meet
Research that crosses disciplinary lines faces a structural problem: many journals return a manuscript because it cannot be assigned cleanly to one field. The regulatory question inside a business problem, the economic consequence of a legal rule, the institutional condition behind a health outcome — these questions sit between disciplines, and the journals of each discipline see only part of them.
Business, law, and health appear in one journal at OnScientia, together with the questions that connect them. Research located firmly within a single field is equally welcome; interdisciplinary work is not a requirement but an explicit invitation.
- Business - management, economics, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and related areas
- Law - empirical legal studies, regulation, legal institutions, legislation, and case law
- Health - health sciences, public health, healthcare, health economics, and healthcare management
Evidence First
A defining characteristic of OnScientia is its empirical focus. Findings must rest on substantive verifiable evidence and a clearly stated analytical approach. The journal publishes quantitative and qualitative studies, comparative legal analysis, systematic reviews, and case studies, and encourages mixed methods designs where the research question calls for them.
Topic & Research Pre-Assessment
This assessment does not begin with the finished manuscript. Through the Topic and Research Pre-Assessment, the Editorial Board evaluates a proposed research project free of charge and without obligation, before it is written. Authors receive a reliable basis for choosing the right journal at the point where that choice still matters — and researchers learn early whether the design of their project will carry the evidence their question requires.
Every Manuscript Faces the Same Standard
Every submission first passes a desk compliance check, which verifies scope and formatting. A noncompliant manuscript is returned for correction rather than rejected at the desk.
It then enters double-blind peer review. Authors do not learn who reviewed their work, and reviewers do not learn who wrote it, so the manuscript is assessed on its content alone. Reviewers are independent external experts with subject expertise in the relevant field, and every reviewer completes a certified training program before a first review.
The review is guided by the OnScientia Journal Standard, a consistent framework for assessing the empirical basis, the methodological quality, and the scholarly contribution of submitted research. Reviews conclude in one of four defined decision categories, and a first editorial decision follows within six weeks of submission.
Editorial policies govern peer review, research integrity, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Published Openly and Preserved Permanently
Published research is freely accessible without subscription or registration. Articles appear under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, which supports broad dissemination and responsible reuse with attribution, and copyright remains with the authors.
Publication is designed to last. Every article receives its own DOI registered with Crossref and remains permanently citable. Authors and board members are identified by verified ORCID iD. Articles are archived for long-term preservation through the PKP Preservation Network, and the journal is listed in WorldCat and findable through library catalogs worldwide.
The governing standards are those of the field. Publication ethics follow COPE guidance, authorship follows the ICMJE criteria, contributions are recorded using CRediT roles, and a published corrections and retractions policy applies to the record after publication. In addition to open access publication, every author receives a printed copy of the issue containing the article.
CC BY 4.0
Every article is free to read, share, and reuse, with attribution to its authors.
Crossref
Every article receives a DOI registered with Crossref and remains permanently citable.
ORCID
Every author and board member is identified by a verified ORCID iD.
PKP Preservation Network
Every article is archived for long-term preservation.
Four Issues a Year Plus Special Editions
OnScientia publishes four regular issues per year, forming one annual volume. Alongside the regular publication program, the journal produces Special Editions devoted to specific research themes, emerging questions, or areas of particular interdisciplinary relevance. Special Editions are held to the same editorial and peer-review standards as regular issues.
Editorial Decisions Rest with the Board
Publication decisions are based on the scientific quality, the integrity, and the relevance of the submitted research. The Editorial Board forms the academic foundation of the journal: its members advise on scope and editorial policy, assess proposed projects in the Topic and Research Pre-Assessment, and safeguard the academic integrity of everything the journal publishes.
The publisher provides the organizational and publishing infrastructure. It does not determine individual editorial decisions.
